FMX Resources

Language Reference

Here are a list of resources to help a developer get started with FMX development. Some of the resources are free, others are links to books on Amazon. Please keep an eye on the Packtpub publisher’s website, they often have $5 specials, particularly around major holidays.

The first resource you should download is Marco Cantu’s excellent Object Pascal Handbook.

Another useful free resource is Delphi Succinctly from Syncfusion.

Fmx Bootcamp

This bootcamp is a little dated but if you are new to FMX I can’t recommend a better place to begin. Each video is between one and two hours long:

Day 1 – The IDE and Your First App

Day 2 – Getting to Know the Delphi Language

Day 3 – Building Effective User Interfaces with FireMonkey

Day 4 – Game Development with Delphi and FireMonkey

Day 5 – Stepping up to Mobile and Database Development

As always with Embarcadero videos, there’s plenty of marketing promotion, but this series was really what got me excited about FMX. You can find similar bootcamps and code rage videos on Embarcadero’s YouTube channel.

On the Web

The following websites and YouTube channels are useful:

Delphi Developer – The official Facebook Delphi Developer Group

Delphi Mvc Framework – Facebook groups for developers interested in web development

Embarcadero Academy – Lots of videos and courses, free and commercial

Learn Delphi – Embarcadero website for beginners

Embarcadero Blog – Very informative blog, lots of videos, news, and application showcases

99 Coders – Excellent FMX YouTube Channel, turn on subtitles and translation

Imperium Delphi – Another great FMX YouTube Channel

Thimoteo Rodrigues – Very useful FMX YouTube Channel
